6. International Workshop on Task-based Language Teaching

An  International Workshop on Task-based Language Teaching was organized in March 2012 by

the  by the Department of English, Christian College, Kattakada  affiliated to the University of Kerala  & Canterbury Christ Church University, UK.

The trainees of the English Optional of Govt. College of Teacher Education, Thiruvananthapuram were  specially invited for the Workshop.  Ten third year BA (Hons) students of Primary Education  and their faculty from Canterbury Christ Church University UK also attended the Workshop.

The Workshop  Schedule

Time : 10.00AM to 4.00 PM

·       Formal inauguration

·       Ice-breaking sessions through Language Games

·       Debate on a social issues relevant to both countries

·       Informal   discussion on  actual English language learning problems seen in Indian and UK classrooms

·       Presentation by faculty on Task-based language teaching practiced in India and UK

·       Presentation of task types for secondary level students by participants

·       Presentation of task types  for primary level students by participants

·       Workshop on language task preparation in mixed groups

·       Presentation of tasks prepared.

·       Feedback

·       Valedictory session

    

It was a rare and fulfilling learning experience for  all the participants. The students and faculty of the Department of English, Govt. College of Teacher Education would like to thank the faculty and students of CCCU for their  whole hearted participation.
