The following are thoughts presented by trainees of the
college during the College Assembly in
February 2013. The thoughts were originally presented in Malayalam. But they were compiled and
translated into English by
Ms. Aneesha & Ms. Sandhya.
On Time
Time is a valuable thing in our life.
But we do not care about the previous
moments to live, to enjoy, to attain success. Time management is important for
success. Time bound learning and hard work is needed to attain our career.
Another year starts with a message that ‘I am giving you 365 days , do great
things don’t waste time’...
Influence of teacher on students
A learner can learn even without the
help of a teacher. A person can become a
terrorist, a rapist or a thief because of circumstances. Through the learning process a teacher can share the
positive and negative sides of cruel activities in a society. To an extent a teacher’s role is important in moulding a
student of quality.
On false
beliefs in the modern age
Science and technology is developing
day after day. But still our society falls a prey to false beliefs. The ‘blackman’
and ‘apocalypse’ references in
the Press in 2012, shows we are
all addicted to it. If we are educated,
we shouldn’t fall a prey to quack prediction techniques like concentrating on a shining stone or thread to determine our future... such things are fake.
On criticism
Nobody is interested in criticism of
work done by us. We never realize the fact that if there is a criticism
for a work, it means it had some
influence on others. The influence is reflected through criticism. It opens a
new world showing us where an
improvement is needed and how others
analysed it. A friendly criticism can encourage others.
On Optimism
Are you a pessimist or optimist? We usually have good hope about life. But when
there is failure and when we fail to attain our goal we tend to
see life in a darker light. A web of thought ‘it the end of everything’ encapsulates
us. But why should we worry about the past? Good things are yet to happen. Always
hope for the best because ‘all is well’!
On Smile
Time and smile are two crucial things
in life. Sometimes time makes us forget how to smile and sometimes someone’s smile
makes us forget time. The busy life, stress, tension...make us forget to smile.
But if we smile at them, we will be free from tension, stress and depression. A cute smile can increase friends,
it can make others happy too.
On Advice
All of us may give advice, but it is not practical
always. When a teacher or an elder person gives you advice, be a good listener
to accept. Accept others...may be, on some occasion such advice will turn to be
useful for us. Remember that a person who gave advice must have gained it from life experience and we are but the budding flowers in the garden
of life.
On self confidence
‘I can do it, nobody else can do
my role better than myself’. This is
called self confidence. Develop the abilities we have without being a pessimist. Don’t care about what others
think of us. Work hard to develop our ability. For that our positive attitude
should be raised and thus self
confidence.
On self control
One who can control his emotion is
powerful than a king. It is our self control that prevents us from committing a
crime. We suppress the animal instincts
in us and develop an attitude according to our culture. It is our self control,
that controls our words and action. So
first we should control our mind and allow it to work according to our
instruction.
On sincerity
We depend on others only to satisfy our
needs then we turn our backs on them.
Relations today are becoming ‘use
and throw’. The term ‘Sincerity’ itself seems to have lost its meaning. If
someone trusts us, we should be sincere
to him/her. A ‘hai-bye’ culture for
selfish needs has no place today.
On parental care
It is the duty of a daughter/son to take
care of their parents. From childhood onwards they are the ones who satisfied
all our needs, gave education, food and clothing. Unfortunately many perceive ‘Old
Age Homes’ as a
place to send their parents! This results in a separation
which the parents can’t bear. Care for your parents especially when they
are old.
